About SPINNphr

SPINN is a confidential and secure online service that allows you to access and organize your health information. You determine who has access to it and you decide when others can view it. SPINN provides a secure communication system that allows you to form a personal health network by connecting family, guardians and healthcare providers to share information and notifications in a medical emergency.

How does information get in to SPINN? Information is entered in SPINN in several ways. You can manually enter information for yourself and for members of your personal health network. You can also allow SPINN healthcare providers to send automatic updates. You decide which healthcare providers update your health record and you decide when to stop allowing them to update it.  You can also allow other healthcare providers who connect with Microsoft HealthVault to update your HealthVault record. Since SPINNphr is connected to HealthVault, any information entered to your HealthVault record can be viewed through your SPINNphr account.  There are a number of other vendors who offer solutions that operate with SPINNphr or HealthVault. Information in HealthVault entered through these applications can also be accessed through your SPINNphr account.

May I change or delete information in SPINN? You may change or delete information that you or an authorized member of your personal health network has entered into your SPINN health record. To ensure that information supplied by your healthcare provider information remains accurate, you are not allowed to change or delete health information received from them. However, you decide what information is made available to people or organizations who are authorized to view your health record.

If I don't agree with the information received from a healthcare provider, can I change it? No. Physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers will not provide updates of health information associated with their name or organization if it can be changed or deleted without their permission. Doing so would create a false or incomplete presentation of their findings and representations. You are able to add comments that will be visible to anyone viewing your health information. And, you decide what information is made available to people or organizations who are authorized to view your health record.

Do I decide who can see my health information? Yes. SPINN has a sophisticated sharing tool that let's you decide what information is made available to people or organizations who are authorized to view your health record.

If I am unconscious, how will people know I'm a SPINN member? There are several ways you can be identified as a SPINN Member. Every member receives a SPINN card that includes your Membership Number. You can also buy a variety of bracelets, zipper tags, and other devices that will identify you. For events such as races, SPINN Members can be identified by their bib numbers or a RFID transponder that participants wear to record their time.

Can my information only be stored and viewed on-line? No. There are several ways you can store and view your information:

  1. You can print a card that you can carry in your wallet or purse.
  2. You can download information to a portable storage device. We sell a line of portable storage devices that are clearly identified to contain personal health information.
